Scrapbooking the traditional way is not for everyone. However, if you love the idea of telling your family story there are alternatives. Consider digital scrapbooking, keeping a journal, documenting in a travellers notebook, or adding photos and stories on Instagram or a private blog.
There are so many different ways to tell your story. Just because you aren’t a fan of doing it traditionally doesn’t mean it can’t be done.
There’s a fabulous app for your phone called Project Life that allows you do create pages right on your phone, which is likely where all your photos are. It’s easy you can whip up a page in a matter of minutes! Here’s one I did up quickly the other night.
I know there are other apps or programs out there that allow you even more possibilities. I’ve seen some GORGEOUS digital layouts that are hard to even tell are digital!
Converting Instagram/Blog Posts into Books
Did you know that you can covert your instagram feed and blog into a book? When our daughter was born (over 20 years ago now), my parents lived overseas. To keep them informed on what was happening and how J was growing, we started a blog. It was private and only shared with family but we added photos and details so that they could feel connected. Now you can turn that into a book. Just google ‘turning your blog into a book’ a few options comes up.
Same thing with Instagram. If you post photos and funny stories on Instagram, imagine how fun it would be to get those printed in book format to look back on? I know that Chatbooks is one of the ways that this can be done, I’m sure there are others.
Then of course there are journals and travellers notebooks. I think journals are pretty straightforward and I’ll post a little more about travellers notebooks (tns) in tomorrows post.
In the meantime, I hope you have a creative day!
