My favorite part of the trip was our whale watching in Juneau. It’s really hard to get good photos, they don’t seem to want to pose for you! These are two of my favorite shots. The top one is of a humpback whale and the next one is of an orca. They were incredible, I could have sat out there for days and just watched them. The humpback was with her baby teaching her how to dive. We decided to take a smaller tour, just 6 of us instead of going on a bigger boat with 25+ people. I’m so glad we did, it was lots of fun and no fighting over where to stand to get the best photos.
Another hilight of the trip was sailing the Tracy Arm Fjord. Before the trip, I had no idea what a fjord was and really didn’t know what to expect – now I do. It is a narrow passageway from the sea with cliffs on either side that was created by a glacier. It is amazing that a big cruise ship can sail into it and then proceed to turn around and come back out! Here’s a photo of the glacier at the end of the Fjord.
