Last year a friend of mine started a 60 before 60 list which basically included a list of things she wanted to do before she turned 60. I decided to do the same with a 50 before 50 list. I still have a couple years before I turn 50 but I created a list of things that I’d like to accomplish before the big 5.0.
While I was coming up with ideas I learned the difference between a life list and a bucket list.
A bucket list is a list of items you’d love to do in your lifetime. Some of them are a big stretch but that’s the point of the list – to stretch yourself, to step out of your comfort zone and experience those things.
A life list is a list of things you’d like to accomplish within a limited time frame or by a certain date. These things can still be a stretch but maybe not as big of a stretch, well depending on the length of time you have, as items on your bucket list. For example a trip to the Galapagos Islands is on my bucket list but I know it’s not achievable within the next two years. It requires a bit more planning and funds than what I know we can manage in this shorter length of time that I’ve set for myself.
Because I love to document life, I knew I wanted to record each task from my life list that I accomplished. I didn’t want it to be time consuming and bulky. It needed to be quick and easy. I decided to use a 3″ x 8″ album from Ali Edwards. It’s a much smaller album than what I’m used to working in but I think it’s going to make the perfect keepsake to record all these memories as I make them.
I’ve decided to give myself the freedom to use whatever products I want for the album and not commit to using any one collection. I think it will be fun to document as I go and pick the products that suite the feel of the accomplishment.
This is the title page to the album. I used some plaid dsp from one of our holiday dsp packs from last years holiday catalogue. It was the perfect choice because, at the moment, I’m all about plaid!
The next page includes my life list. I added a tab along the bottom to indicate that it needs to be lifted to reveal the rest of the list.
I couldn’t leave the space empty at the bottom of the page so I used several random pieces from kits that I’ve had laying around and came up with this cluster. Again the pineapples are an indication of something I love right now.
I’m so excited to start working on this list. Actually by the end of the day today I’ll have accomplished one of them items on my life list – visiting the ice castles! Looking forward to documenting that in my album.
Have a creative day!
Sherry
